Anul acesta Romania a sarbatorit Centenarul Marii Uniri de la 1918. Miracolul Marii Uniri nu s-a făcut în condiții ușoare. La 1918, România era vlăguită de război și epidemie, parțial ocupată de armate străine și departe de aliații săi. Toate nemulțumirile și dezbinările noastre de astăzi par neînsemnate față de ceea ce au avut de înfruntat înaintașii noștri. Și, totuși, au reușit acolo unde toți cei dinaintea lor dăduseră greș de nenumărate ori.
La evenimentul organizat cu aceasta ocazie la Hotelul Lancaster Tamar de catre Ambasada Romaniei la Beirut au participat membrii comunitatii romanesti din Liban si fostii absolventi libanezi ai facultatilor din Romania.
Copiii Asociatiei Romania Levant au prezentat un tablou folcloric de dansuri populare romanesti: brasoveanca, alunelul si hora, iar la sfarsit toti participantii si-au dat mana la Hora Unirii.

This year Romania celebrated the Centenary of the Great Union since 1918. The miracle of the Great Union was not done in easy conditions. In 1918, Romania was ravaged by war and epidemic, partly occupied by foreign armies and far from its allies. All of our discontents and disruptions today seem insignificant to what our forefathers had to face. And yet, they succeeded where everyone before them had failed countless times.
The event organized on this occasion at the Lancaster Tamar Hotel by the Romanian Embassy in Beirut was attended by members of the Romanian community in Lebanon and the former Lebanese graduates of the Romanian faculties.
The children of the Romanian Levant Association presented a choreography of Romanian folk dances: “Brasoveanca”, “Alunelul” and “Hora”, and at the end all the participants gave their hands at the “Hora Unirii”.
