Who is George Enescu? Who invented the fountain pen? Where is Transylvania?
To celebrate the International Day of Francophonie, the students of the “Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais de Beyrouth” (GLFL) presented Romania in all of its aspects: inventions, fauna and flora, music and main touristic locations.
The ceremony was held at the theatre of the GLFL under the patronage of the Romanian Embassy in Lebanon. The students were delighted by the presence of his High Excellency the ambassador of Romania Mr. Victor Mircea and his spouse Mr. Laura Mircea, a Romanian diplomatic delegation, representatives of Romania Levant Association (RLA), Mr. Clement Le Caille, school director, as well as teachers of the students.
The event started with a word from Mrs. Naya Nasr, Mr. Clement Le Caille, school director and HE Mr. Mircea, followed by a power point presentation of the research executed by the students and a Romanian dance performed by the little classes on the beats of “Ozone” and their famous song “Dragostea din Tei”.
The audience was surprised with a skype registered interview between two of GLFL students and the Romanian writer Matei Visniec. Passages from his book were read by students accompanied by the music of a young talented Romanian composer Bogdan Ota.
The ceremony ended with the distribution of “Martisoare” by HE, his wife and Mrs. Nasr to all the students and teachers who participated in organizing this event.
The delegation was treated to a traditional Cozonac baked by Trilica, the company managing GLFL cafeteria, and Romanian wine offered by Romania Levant Association. As a token of gratitude and respect, Romania Levant Association (RLA) offered the teachers giveaways from Sebamed.
The collaboration of Romania Levant Association was realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Department of Policies for the Relation with Romanians Abroad.

The Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais (GLFL) is a prestigious French lycée in Achrafieh, Beirut founded in 1909 by the Mission Laïque Française. The institution is the flagship of all the other French lycees in Lebanon. Initially located in the Sodeco neighborhood, near the central Beirut district, it later moved to Beni Assaf Street near the French Embassy, in the Mathaf neighborhood. GLFL has ten buildings (five of which were conceived by the French planner Michel Ecochard) and also added a new athletic compound on Damascus road: “Le stade deChayla”.

Pentru a sărbători Ziua Internațională a Francofoniei, studenții de la „Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais de Beyrouth” (GLFL) au prezentat România în toate aspectele sale: inventii, faună și floră, muzică și principalele locații turistice.
Ceremonia a avut loc la teatrul GLFL sub patronajul Ambasadei Române în Liban. Elevii au fost încântați de prezența Excelenței Sale ambasadorul României Dl Victor Mircea și soția sa doamna Laura Mircea, de o delegație diplomatică română, de reprezentanți ai Asociației România Levant, de dl Clement Le Caille, directorul școlii, precum și profesorii elevilor.
Evenimentul a debutat cu un cuvânt rostit de doamna Naya Nasr, dl Clement Le Caille, directorul școlii și ES Dl. Mircea, urmat de o prezentare care a cuprins lucrarile de cercetare executate de către studenți și un dans românesc realizat de micile clase pe muzica celebrului cantec al formatiei “Ozone” intitulat “Dragostea din tei”.
Publicul a fost surprins de un interviu înregistrat pe skype între doi dintre elevii ai GLFL și scriitorului român Matei Vișniec. Pasaje din cartea acestuia au fost citite de catre elevi, însoțite de muzica unui tânăr talentat compozitor român Bogdan Ota.
Ceremonia s-a încheiat cu distribuirea de martisoare de catre ES domnul ambasador, doamna Mircea și de doamna Nasr tuturor studenților și profesorilor care au participat la organizarea acestui eveniment.
Delegația a fost tratată cu un cozonac tradițional fabricat de Trilica, compania care gestionează cantina GLFL, și cu un vin românesc oferit de Asociația România Levant. Ca semn de recunoștință și respect, Asociația România Levant a oferit profesorilor cadouri de la Sebamed.
Colaborarea din partea Asociației România Levant a fost realizata cu sprijinul financiar al Departamentului Politici pentru Relatia cu Romanii de Pretutindeni.

Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais (GLFL) este un prestigios liceu francez in Achrafieh, Beirut, fondat în 1909 de către Misiunea Laica Franceza. Instituția este nava amiral a tuturor celorlalte licee franceze din Liban. Situat inițial în cartierul Sodeco, în apropiere de districtul central din Beirut, a fost mutat mai târziu pe strada Beni Assaf, în apropiere de Ambasada Franței, în cartierul Mathaf. GLFL are zece cladiri (dintre care cinci au fost concepute de către proiectantul francez Michel Ecochard) la care se adauga, de asemenea, un nou compus atletic pe drumul Damascului: “Le Stade de Chayla”.
